Hey all. We're trying a new thing here at UR; public beta-ing. The writing process is a learning process and one way to learn is to see how others view a fic, what nuances they pick up from the text, their interpretations.
Kernezelda has graciously offered a story for such a task. Please check out "Helping Hands", recently added to the archive.
In the 'Review' section of the fic, people can offer their thoughts of the story itself, what suggestions they would offer to the writer. This is a chance to not only hone your own beta skills, but to see how others do it as well.
New versions of the story will appear as subsequent chapters, so that others can see the evolution from a tiny spot on the brain to a full-fledged fic.

FIC-A-THON

Dementians of Mind is sponsoring their first fic-a-thon, Introspection, Agony and Ecstasy.
Choose a pivotal moment for the crew in which Moya and/or Pilot get injured. Write the account from their perspective. We want to walk a metra or two in Pilot's and Moya's shoes... er... tentacles. Whatever. We want to feel their pain.
We at Unrealized Realities would like to offer challenges like this, and the one of mind-halves over there gave me permission to pimp, er cross-post it here.
Get your thinking caps on! Offer yourself to the fic gods, tell the mods over there what you would like to see in a fic written for you, what you would be willing to write for someone else.
And then post it here as well! Let's build up the archive with some fresh meat, er, fic. Whatever.

For future reference the ratings explanations can be found here.
In the meantime, Unrealized Realities administration has made its own rating system to avoid any possible problems with using a more standard rating system. (MPAA standards.)
AAA - All Audience Approved - something that shouldn't offend anyone's grandma, in other words, a frell-free fic
WFM - Watch Your Frelling Mouth - uses moderate language, suggests violence or adult situations, but doesn't describe them.
WFH - Watch Your Frelling Hands - uses strong language, includes moderate violence or mature sexual themes, but no graphic violence or graphic sexual descriptions.
F - Frell - descriptions of graphic violence or graphic sexual descriptions, or 'watch where you put that frelling thing!'
S - It's Frelling Smut - explicit sexual descriptions. |
